I love these films. I watch them with subtitles so that I can get the emotional content of the true actors voices, eventhough I don’t understand Mandarin. These films remind me of watching Kung-Fu Theather on Sundays as a child. Only the cinematography is leaps and bounds better.

this is a fantastic movie! only the costumes and make-up got a bit copycatting from the western movies, such as ‘conan, the barbarian’…the settings, the directing, especially the fighting scenes are all fantastic. only the female castings are not too good. there should be a sequel to this.

This great film was very entertaining and had amazing fight sequences that almost makes this film a masterpiece. What makes this film even better was Donnie who was unbelievably fast but not to fast to make it seem like a mess it had a lot of fantastic sword fights, the film takes place in ancient times in the early 1600 and no it doesn’t use any high wires where the characters start flying all over the place like they did in Crouching Tiger. Seven strangers in China during the Ching Dynasty band together in order to protect a village from a bunch of tyrrants who have allready massecered a previous village however there is one warrior who has managed to escape from there capture Fu Zingzhu who assembles a team to defeat these bad guys before its too late, each character in the film was unique and had different personalities, weaknesses and strengths and the villians were quite interesting as well especialy that very weird female vilian who had a very funny 80′s punk new wave haircut you’ll know when she arrives trust me you can’t miss it. The film had a bit of blood and violence and one character uses a flying guilotine that is used to decapitate his enemys very nice. Director Tsui Hark shows how good he is and why hes the best asian director by providing alot of action, drama and romance and its deffinently not like Crouching tiger or Hero, this is Hong Kong cinema at its best which I highly recomend you can get this at Amazon.co.uk since the regular Amazon hasn’t got a proper release date yet.
