Bearing positively no similarity to the 1980s TV array which helped to propel Michael Mann in to big-time filmmaking, Miami Vice is the kind of serious, and severely stylish, crime play which Mann does improved than any one else. As created by Mann himself, this clandestine sting thriller doesn’t reach the rise power of Mann’s 1995 classical Heat, and it lacks the tight, nail-biting torment of Collateral, but which doesn’t meant it doesn’t spasmodic container a wallop. As Miami detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs (respectively), Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx do not have to do most but drivel their plot-thickening discourse and demeanour ultra-cool in the infrequent patrolman attire, and their partnership is rsther than routine on shade (perhaps owing to the actuality which this was a uneasy production, with an tangible sharpened which occurred during filming, and Foxx’s warding off to risk his hold up on dangerous locations in South America). But once Mann shifts in to high rigging with a tract to foil a absolute drug kingpin (Luis Tosar) and his cruel middle-man (John Ortiz), Vice pays off with the kind of smart, picturesque movement which Mann’s fans have come to expect. With Chinese luminary Gong Li as Crockett’s love seductiveness on the wrong side of the law, Miami Vice covers domain that’s a small as well familiar, and one suspects Mann’s screenplay might’ve been punched up with a gloss or two. Still, this is an above-average crime thriller which final and rewards close attention, with a climactic shoot-out that’s pristine Mann, estimable of the brooding play which precedes it. –Jeff Shannon

I grew up with the ORIGINAL Miami Vice series. I’ve am a bigtime action adventure affectionado. This movie just missed the boat. I didn’t find myself being drawn into a story at all. I didn’t FEEL like this was an action/adventure movie – just 2 actors getting a paycheck and showing some skin so the fans don’t feel thoroughly jipped.

I don’t see how they couldn’t feel ripped off! Hey, I like Jamie and Colin. But…C’mon guys…you gotta pick stuff that is worthy of the work you’ve already done.

If I was in a movie theater, I would have walked out LONG before this diatribe finished. I couldn’t have tortured myself with trying to watch it there. However I had it BEAMED into my hotel room at a PREMIUM – so, I already had wasted the money…so I kept looking for one sliver of a redeeming quality to this movie. I couldn’t find one.

Why make Cockett’s character LOOK like he did? I didn’t get that.

Why the gratutious sex scenes (yes, multiple)? Neither character NEEDED the sex scenes where they were placed – and Rico’s was what – extended just to fill up the time, to try to detract from the LACK of a well written script?

STEALTH was much better than this (and it didn’t gross well).

I was thoroughly BORED with this movie. I anticipated that it would be bad, but not THIS bad.

Save your money and the aggravation of watching this. Otherwise you’ll just end up saying I told you so.

I think it would have been a better movie with Matthew McConaugney and Terrence Howard as the lead actors.

i usually dont bash bad movies (as I try to avoid viewing them) but I made the mistake of watching this and want everyone to know that it should be avoided. the director, Michael Mann, likes to pride himself on being a bit of a outlaw. He succeeded by getting away with highway robbery and making this abomination.
