Japanese abhorrence master Takashi Miike searches the corpse-strewn riverbanks of 19th-century Japan in this story of an American journalist(Billy Drago) evading a dim secret. Hoping to find the love he left behind, the journalist’s track leads to a dim island where the usually retreat is a brothel. Spending the night with a singular woman(Youki Kudoh), he learns the risk of dredging up old ghosts. Based on the terrifying Kadokawa Shoten Publishing novel Bokkee Kyoutee by Shimako Iwai.

Omg I must see this, because it looks disturbing, yet memorizing, because of the color schemes they use in this movie.
i wish the director had stuck to a native language …so much is lost in translation . the broken english , patches of poor acting makes it hard to watch but when the film starts to sink in , thats when it’s really hard to fathom the whole scenario. shades of brilliance with moments of disgust … don’t know what to make of the aparition we see during the beginning , a some what confusing ending … its not scary its plain wierd !

@BornToDie90 I think it was an illusion …it made the solider/cowboy …whatever he was …believe that because he left the woman behind he was the one who killed her in the end. That was my best guess anyway.
This was the most disgusting film I have ever seen. Brilliant in someways but so very hard to watch …

such a promising trailer, but what a disappointing story! In fact wat even was the story exactly? Can someone explain the little girl with the blue eyes? Insane torture scene though. All i liked was the funky colored hair all of em had. Esp the blue hair!! LMAO

This was one of those most hardcore torture films ever for it being made recently. The story was kind of lame, but the torture was up there.
There is a place at the edge of perception, where pain is everywhere, and fear is the air you breathe. Familiar voices in your head whisper that death is the only escape.

it was okay as a movie, but really good considering it was a tv movie.
it had a fairly large amount of gross out moments, very few movies do i have to look away but this one had a scene that really got to me because i freak out over my fingernails getting ripped off or something like that, watch it and you’ll see what im talking about. worth the watch.
Don’t forget the scenes of domestic violence, child abuse, and aborted fetuses!
Maybe the most horrible torture scene ever ! Really disturbing movie. This is a amazing movie compare to Ichi the Looser !
i have also seen audition and ichi the killer.both were great.i love Takashi Miike.i understood the ending of those two films.and i love his gorrey torture scenes,i guess cause i’m a big japanese gore fan.but,WTF??is going on with the ending of imprint.i don’t understand it at all.anyone who does.EMAIL ME PLEASE??c’mon help me out.

@mylifeisaverage17 No, the scenes really aren’t any worse than hostel or saw at all. Unless you have a big thing against needles…them Asians love needles for some reason. Either way, this was a pretty decent movie. Worth watching, but not quite what I expected it to be.
are the torture scenes any worse than the saw movies or hostel? i want to see it but i’ve read so much about how extremely brutal it is. I can handle alot when it comes to gore, but i’m afraid i wont be the same person if i watch this or something.
