One of the reason it’s seemed to be inferior is because the original Fantasia’s intentions were to show hand drawn animation could be beautiful, and that Walt Disney wanted more respect as an artist for his work. Fantasia 2000 kind of spat on that with bringing CGI into the world of Fantasia which most traditional animation enthusiasts find uninspiring and boring.
