This wasn’t actually a commercial for Halo 3, It was a commercial for Halo: Rearmed. You play one of those robotic arms and build rifles and pelicans all day. Your backstory is that as a young erector set, you were separated from your toaster parents to become part of an elite task force of robot arms.
