Tang Mon, 15 Feb 2010 19:01:03 +0000 http://atatheatrenearyou.org/castle-in-the-sky-special-edition-2-disc-dvd/#comment-1711 if you've seen "Mononoke Hime" and " Sen to Chihiro" before you see this one, be careful, you'll be quite disappointed with this one, 'cause it can't compare with those two in every aspects, no matter in the whole story, the picture or the music, it's just totally out of date in today's standrd, i had this dvd just because i'm fan of miyazaki's animation, speaking of this dvd alone, it's not worth owning. No doubt it is artistically worthy in many ways. But is it praiseworthy as a children's movie? Pazu is a kid waving a gun who participates in a military adventure. This I find poor content to which to expose kids, and morally objectionable. I wish I had known beforehand. <br /> <br />Perhaps you will say that this is better than 99% of what else is out there, and perhaps that's true, but I don't think it affects the point. The characters are unrealistic. The girl had some sort of weird accent. It was like a mix of Britain and U.S. accents. Very annoying. The two main characters had little depth, and I didn't care what happened to them in the end. The graphics weren't very good either. I don't like the way the people were drawn, and the colors in most of the movie were dull and gray. I didn't like how Dola and Pops looked and sounded like chararacters from Spirited Away. Some of the same music was used too. Spirited Away is a much better movie, though. I would highly recommend that you buy Spirited Away instead of Castle in the Sky.
